Cameron Marshall scored on three of his four first-half carries, and Arizona State used its quick-hitting offense to overwhelm Portland State in a season-opening 54-9 win over the Vikings on Saturday night.
Sarah Reaves added another career accolade Saturday as she moved to sixth-place in ASU career kills records with 13 kills to push her to 1,382 while ASU wrapped their first home tournament taking on the Utah State Aggies for a shot at the tournament crown. It wasn’t to be though as the undefeated Aggies remained as such sweeping ASU in a 25-18, 25-22 and 25-17. Utah State went on to take the tournament title and raise their record to 6-0 on the season as ASU falls to 2-3 overall.
The 2010 season opened officially for the Arizona State University cross country program on Saturday afternoon as the Sun Devils sent five men and six women to run in the George Kyte Invitational, which was hosted by Northern Arizona at Buffalo Park in Flagstaff, Ariz.
The 2010 home volleyball schedule kicked-off Friday as the Sun Devils opened the ASU Sheraton Classic where they split on the day, topping Seattle U 3-1 and falling to SDSU 3-1 in the nightcap. Against the Red Hawks, ASU locked up a 25-19, 25-21, 16-25 and 25-13 win with Stephanie Preach leading the way with 45 assists before falling 16-25, 22-25, 25-15 and 20-25 in the final match of the day to the SDSU Aztecs.
